Going into random plumbers merchants out of your neck of the woods is very hit and miss, some give you such a ridiculas price and you pause for a second and try and take it in. Then you feel a pratt asking "how much if I put this back".I bought a selection of 28mm comp fittings from one of these places and even to this day I'm still paying them off.

Speedfit is now becoming too expensive to be used as a viable alternative to copper. I've gone back to copper pipe and soldered fittings, though I had to notify my insurance company that I'd be using heat.

I will say this about plastic though, the 22mm x 3/4" Hep20 tap connectors are good as they come with a coned neoprene washer than allows for the copper pipe being straight and the tap tail being slightly off due to slope on bath edge.
