Powerflow is the best especially on the larger pipe diameters, in fact it is so good that sometimes you don't even need to solider it cos it sticks the pipe & fitting together!
I love it, no more joints moving just as you are about to apply the solder, having to prop up your pipe before you heat it up are a thing of the past when using this baby.
Just hope to hell you have it in the right position when you push the two together.:ack2:

That's exactly the reason I hate it [emoji6]

I've always stuck with Laco as its what I trained with. The solder runs perfectly well for me.

As others have said, a good wipe down and a bit of wire will leaves a nice clean job.

I've not really tried many others tbh.

How much flux do you use? I only use a little smear around the pipe only but seen guys smother it all over the pipe and fittings. Tend to dab the solder into the flux whilst im waiting for it to get hot enough.

I use just the thinnest smear. I put a little on the brush and if I can freely rotate the pipe I'll just hold the brush against the pipe and turn it twice. No flux inside the fitting either so I'm not pushing blobs of it down into the fitting and I don't get any running out of the joint when it is being heated.

I see some other plumbers blobbing it on all over the place with it dripping all over the place under the heat. It works fine with just the thinnest layer.

Laco flux is all I ever use. I've had a go with most with Powerflux being my least favourite due to the binding effect it has when inserting the tube.

A company I used to work for made us use a brown grease type flux which was horrendous as you had to make sure the pipe was sparkling before it would run. They found out what I thought of it when I threw it into the skip in front of them and got my trusty laco out, they then had me using fernox which wasn't too bad.

I use laco the only problem is the fumes get down your throat and that's all you can taste for hours and if you don't wipe the joints properly they do turn green really bad! Ever flux I just didn't like the tub as I kept breaking it,
