Send a private message to gasman or redsaw with your details, I think they ask you a question or two and then hey presto :)

It's included in our price. We stipulate balance bleed and commission. If its existing rads and pipework it gets a post install check to drain again and refill with inhibitor and check balancing

Why has no one mentioned flow-return temp differential? As this is the key for all condensing boilers and the main reason I balance rads.

Hi Guys

Just wanted to put some thoughts down for those that maybe haven't had the benefit of being taught the why's behind what we do

Don't mean to teach anyone to suck eggs, but I don't know who does and who doesn't have this knowledge.

Please have a look at the attached word doc

To my mind there's a world of different between being told

"Listen son, this is the way we do it, we always do it this way because it works so don't muck around with it"

and

Knowing why it works the way its done!!

its all about knowledge imo

Talk about knowledge - lol - word file is too big and so is pdf what can I do to link an attachment?

Let us know where the link is Croppie:)
Guys, I'd remove the email addresses you've posted on here, as there are scrapers out there which will find and start to send all sorts of spam to both your email addresses.

Could i ask for access to the doc too please??? I'm a newbie but balancing rads has been included in some of my early training and would be interested to read some more into it. :)

Balance because ...
.....
the TRV is trying to close against the full head of the pump and it wont be very good at shutting of the flow as it gets close to the point of "control"

..

Russ

Thats something had not though of .... ( TRV quality / age could be issue )

Yes Jim

This area is call "valve authority" and a valve (any valve) should be balanced against each systems characteristics!

Valve Authority

PS this is purely from a purist technical perspective, in reality a good approximation is good enough, but it goes some way to realising why some TRV's do not control very well.

That and their overshoot undershoot characteristics

Russ

Will post link soon

Croppie

Did you get my email with the document at all?

Cheers

Russ

Just saw it.

Docx files aren't supported by this forum. Can you turn it into a pdf?

If it's open office you can save as PDF as can u in office 2010 me thinks

I'd really like to read this document. iiplumbing, I'm a newbie to plumbing and have just joined a firm and am out on my todd learning as I go. I've had 2 jobs recently where all I've done is rebalanced the system and got 2 rads working again. And when I say rebalanced, I mean just making sure the rads closest to the boiler were more closed then those further away ;) But hey, it got the rads working so I was happy. But I'd still like to read the document you've shared!
