Baxi 105e pump head removal

Hope you confirm something’s for me, boiler calls for how and ch but am not sure if pump is rotating, have checked if it’s stuck via inspection cap on pump which is ok. 240v at pump and on pcb so that’s ok. Can someone tell me how I check if it’s rotating, if not it states drain primary circuit I presume this means shut all valves on cold inlet, supply and return on ch and drain system via drain clock, or am I missing something like drain whole system completely. Shaun, thanks for that no the impeller is not turning but 240 at head, is my description of how to drain and remove the head correct, thanks for all your help most appreciated

Tbh would just open the drain off on the boiler and wait for it to strop running etc towel over the pcb / back cover to catch any drips when removing the pump etc

Tbh wouldn’t test would just change the pump I’m guessing it’s the original one?

Shaun,. Thanks for all your help, I did take pump off put it on bench and found it would spin ok when given a little push, the start capacitor was aged and gone reduced capitance not that I could find anyone here with a meter to test it but hey ho. Ordered new capacitor fitted and works like a dream, all fitted and pump cap must have been on the blink for a while. I suggest not for the faint hearted that they do as I did cos for the sake of a few pounds it’s fixed and the cost of the pump complete you can imagine Varys dramatically. Thanks once again for your help and patience

I would hazard a guess that 50% of pump replacements are due to failed capacitors.

I test and replace them where I can.

I generally make the customer aware of the repair and let them know the cost of a replacement pump.
Most agree to replace the capacitor and see how things go.
