pity gasman isn't little more benevolant....and told me what the prob was so I could just get someone to fix it!!!!

Not a case of not being benevolent as Dan has a record of being extremely helpful. But we do have a duty of care to protect the EU against themselves.

And personally I absolutely hate it when someone stands over your shoulder telling you they've looked it up on interweb and "That's the problem there mate!"
 
its proberbly a case of the gas fitter not exactly telling you what the problem is so you dont go out and fit the part yourself.
a common one is ''its proberbly the pcb mate'' as this is one of the most exspensive bits.

more than likely return and with a part and solve it for £50 saying it was not the pcb.
