Discuss Bedfordshire site plumbing in the Plumbing Jobs | The Job-board area at Plumbers Forums

I can’t talk for Bedfordshire but in Hampshire it’s ok. Prices have been the same for about 20 years though which is unbelievable really

Second fix
140 combi
50 gas carcass around 2 metres give or take including hob
20 Kitchen carcass, condense, cold main etc
70 bathroom
40 en-suite/ cloakroom
10 rads
30 Zone valves and auto bypass
30 protection for sanitary ware

I appreciate what your saying mate. I worked for myself for 12 years in the domestic side but newbuildis a different animal mate. Remember it’s all dry plumbing also. It gets filled at a later date.
My apprentice does 9 rads and cloakroom,
I do the rest.
Please don’t try to insult me by saying I’m rough or whatever. I’m not it’s just quick and simple work. I’d rather not do it but needs must. It is what it is

The rads on newbuild using 10mm plastic are easy. Normally stud walls with noggins in. So a rad takes about 15mins. No way could I do a full house second fix in a day though

Naa no noggins in new build most of it is metal stud

Most new are plasterboard fixings or expanders

These are timber frame, osb pattress behind rads. Bathroom/kitchen/cloakroom is plylined behind plasterboard. No wall plugs needed only for downstairs pan.

Not knocking anyone on here but my mate has just bought a new house and the plumbing is absolute rubbish. Had endless issues with various bits, rads not level, system not tested, flue not right, Grohe toilet frames fitted wrong , leaks on rads (Airvents not tightened, tails leaking). No doubt there will be more.

Personally I wouldn't do site work, I always stick to domestic. Don't have all your eggs in one basket, least with Domestic you have a larger customer base (Or that's the theory!)

I work on a lot of new builds/conversions. I would never buy one of these places. The quality of workmanship isn’t great. Although I like to think my plumbing is the best part

Yeah, normally metal stud. Still fit noggins between them though or osb. So hanging a rad is just 4 screws

That’s if you install it

Builders won’t

I'm with Jimmy18 here. We always have noggings fitted for everything by the chippies where we work. I can also do a combi, kitchen Carcass, cloakroom, bathroom, and 10 rads on my own in a day.

The main sites round my area don’t do have to sort them out your self even supply the ply for the boiler to go onto
