If it's not full to the rim I'll usually try pouring a bucket of water down from as high as I can but otherwise it's normally the customers mop.

I use a coopers plunger. 1453E Suction Plunger 5.1/2in - Monument available at Plumbworld

Same as the flat rubber on a drain rod but more compact.
