I moved into my current home 4 months ago and it has an old boiler fitted, a Myson and I will be having a new boiler fitted after Christmas but I noticed yesterday for the first time that when the boiler cuts in the hob flame drops down and then recovers. Should they not be on different supplies.I have an electric hob I could drop in if I have to have the gas hob removed. Am I right by the way that a new boiler fitted will require 22mm pipework anyway.

yes, you will require an upgraded gas supply as what you descibe is currently dangerous.
stick the elctric one in for now. be on the safe side.

as above but may need to be upped to 28mm depending on run but your gas eng can tell you that

Call out your gas supplier to check governor you may have a faulty one !

does that mean that the current set up of hob and boiler is not against the rules or just not best practice . The previous owner obviously has had this running as is now and to be truthful I am loathe to pay to have my hob out and then refitted when I have the new boiler installed. I am grateful for your advice.

B4 you do anything call your gas supplier and get Meter checked, pipe work could be ok . and it doesn't cost anything
