Hi has anyone tried the new boiler fault finder app? I'm thinking of purchasing it but wondered if anyone has got any feedback?

Its called boilerfaultfinder and costs £5.99 i think.

It appears it is a web app (not specific to i phone or android) as i have just looked at it on my pc at home.......i guess this has advantages, especially for the boiler manuals which are soon coming, according to their reply.

having now seen it in more detail, i am going to buy it as this works out 50P a month.......no brainer!

I went to the PHEX show at Chelsea yesterday and picked up the leaflet, signed up when I got home. £5.99 for a lot of info on your phone and laid out well, as tyh above says, a no brainer.

:smile5::smile5: I wish, some of those guys make more than plumbers!

There are free areas on the website which you can have a look at and decide if it would be worth it or not

Anyone who is qualified to work on gas, should not need a boiler fault finder app, imo.

If you go to any site and are seen using it, that is you thrown out for good.

Actually, after looking at the site and reading the blurb, this is potentially dangerous piece of software, absolutely no oversight at all.

No harm in using it for a ref

How do you know, it has not been independently tested or certified.

I've read through some of it and looks like some good info on it no harm in using it as a reference

U know by experience it if the info is genuine or not

Massive overreaction.
so when renewing your gas safe you never consulted the literature provided.
We all need a little help.

No it isn't, you do not mess about with gas, the literature you consult is the MIs, the gas regs and your extensive training, not some shady app that is ripping you off.

Calm down people can make there own decision on what they buy and like I said it's got some good info

Im....do not tell u how to test boiler components or give tips it's just some help that's all

think your over reacting here, this is an aid for GS engineers, there are many books on the same subject.

Saying you shouldnt need this help if you are GS registered is a tad unrealistic, what happens if you are GSR but have been an installer for the last 10 years, like me, fault finding does not come naturally, you have to work on it. Same way as pipe lay out and system design doesnt come naturally to someone who has been servicing the last 10 years

Would love to see the statistics of 1000 RGIs opinions on this.

What i have written is my own and i stand by it, this app/program should be discredited to the absolute maximum, it should have no reputation but a poor one in our industry.

If HSE approve and sanction it, i will change my opinion

Who cares ? You can get any info on't interweb anyway, right or wrong info. Shame I hadn't thought of it first.....cash cow ??

Far from shady you idiot, £5.99 for someone sharing this amount if information is a great idea........volumes speak louder than words, I know loads that have bought it who are knowledgeable engineers.
theres always one!

dont see anything wrong with website. As mentioned, looks like good help for less experienced engineers.
