Do you guys still service them? Basically when it says it contains asbestos in mastic fibres. Where is this?

Used to find it and graphite on steam equipment, you`ll be fine just don`t eat your sandwiches at the same time.lol

the problem is when the gasket/seal falls apart when its disturbed. I dont do much servicing so i would try to avoid them unless i had experience on the appliance.

Agree with AW they used to tend to fall apart in your hand, aren`t they meant to be replaced once disturbed?

Servicing it should be ok as it's a floor standing 20 yr old ideal mexico. Not serviced one before but I got the manual

Easy service just saturate the rope before you remove it. Then replace with glass rope.

B&q got an asbestos awareness pack for free with every sale at "tossers point"

I asked a similar question on the forum earlier this week about servicing netaheats, they are on the asbestos list.Trouble is there will be someone who will come in after you & strip it down & try to make you look bad.

I don't do much servicing either. It's ok on the new boilers as you can go on the manufacturer courses to learn, but on the old ones there is no where to learn apart from on the job with the manual. Must be nice working for a company that does servicing most of the time

Theres no way i could do servicing day in day out.Need a bit of b/down & install in the mix

I find just servicing mind numbing! It's the same thing over and over again!

I don't mean to do it all the time. I mean just to get some experience for a week or two. As I have never even seen a back boiler unit as yet. Not in my apprenticeship or while working on my own. Same as an open flue boiler.

is that asbestos where the burner is, I've stated striping old boilers down today and noticed some the white fibre material. The boilers wasn't that old 10 years at the most. should i be worries as most of it broke up.
