Hello Friends

Can anyone assist me please?

I need to box some pipes in.

I have fixed batons to the wall, now, can anyone tell me what wood to use please? Also, when fixing the wood to the batons what screws to use or use that 'no nails' adheisive? If screws, what do I put over the screw head? little poly filler? or something else?

Also, the pipes will be visible at the bottom. Not the best solution but best that can be done. Paint the copper pipes white? Of paint the elbows white then fix that B&Q white pipe cover to it? Looks OK, saw it earlier! Just shiny white plastic for straight runs.

When boxed the boxing will be covered in lining paper (1400 grade) and then painted with matt emulsion as per the rest of the room. PVA the boxing first or will the lining paper be OK to stick to the wood without anything?

It's my house so want a good finish that will look good and last.

Any help or advise as always gratefully received.

Best regards
Rocket

I use white pvc sill board. Make a ply wood frame first and then glue it on with a few dabs of silicone so it comes off easy enough. Nice and easy to keep clean and no decorating.

Thanks SimonG, I need to have it painted the same as the walls or I fear my room will look like a zebra with different colours!

Thanks for your reply

Sorry rocket, I was in bathroom mode. I'd use plasterboard and then line it.

This all sounds very fancy, all the boxing i seem to come across is at best hardboard and what looks like bits of old pallet, then painted strait over.

usually ply and then tiled - i vary rarely box pipes in unless its to be tiled these days.
