my boiler has started playing up again. tried using the cnetral heating today and for the first few seconds everything seems ok. you can hear the boiler starting to heat up the water and pump it through then all of a sudden starts makeing a clunking noise and flashing light comes on. I took the front panel off to check if i could see any leaks but everything looks ok. one thing i did notice with the panel off was when the clunking noise appears you can see a bit of what appears to be steam/smoke coming from the pump. everything with the hot water seems to be fine. any ideas what im in for as i might just get a new boiler instead of repairing if its to much cost. thanx

cost me £200 last time i got an engineer out to change the PCB

It will probably cost about the same again.

one other thing ive noticed aswell. if i use the central heating every day for a week the pressure will go down slightly and i have to open the tap to bring the pressure back up

Have you a leak anywhere? Or prv pipe sticking outside bent back to the wall passing water when used?

ive checked all the rads and around the boiler and everything looks dry. just checked the pipe at the outside of the house and it hasnt been leaking. on thing i did notice just now i turned on the central heating on i could hear like a gurgling noise and the pressure needle was bouncing and the pressure went from 1.5 to 2 then shut off again.

check for any leaks internally or externally from your pressure relief blow off, if nothing there may be an issue with your expansion vessel

i think it might be the pump thats gone. what i thought was the pump coming on was the fan. i took the screw off the front of the pump and put on the central heating to check if the pump was coming on and it wasnt.

Boiler clunking then tripping the overheat stat how hot do the pipes get leaving the boiler?
