One of my customers has a dual system which allows him to use his wood burner to heat his CH system or use his boiler. I didn't install this system neither do I have experience with mating CH systems to log burners. When he uses the wood burner the heating works well. When he uses both it works well. When he uses just the boiler a couple of the radiators don't get hot.

Now the pump running the log burner system looks only a few years old. Whereas the pump on the boiler system looks quite old.

while the pump runs I can't help but feel it's getting tired, so my first reaction is to replace like for like. But my next thoughts are would it not make sense to fit a more powerful pump than the one that is in, in order to cure it.

I've already power flushed the system so I know it's not sludge.

Thoughts ts on this guys?

are the two rads that dont get hot heat leaks on the gravity side??

should be 22mm untill the last 300mm of pipework and piped top and bottom if its a recent install. could be anything if an older system.

The bulk of the system is in 10mm to be honest. Both sides of the system are pumped too. I was just going to fit a larger pump like a ups2 25-80 to give it the extra power

Sorry yes it is. What's confusing is that they get hot if he uses the log burner which has the newer pump on it

I was just going to try and balance it. But the customer is quite a drive away so didn't wanna be having to make too many trips. So was planning on fitting a bigger pump then balancing if needed

No I was always making a second trip to add inhibitor and a manga clean. Just didn't wanna make it into 3 trips. Is it still worth upgrading the pump?

In order to see if the pump is on its way out? I didn't but it sounds very weak. Customer is confinced he needs a bigger pump. Is it worth just fitting a bigger one or could it cause any problems
