Hi, I have a Switchmaster 805 timer that I want to upgrade to a digital timer. Can you tell me which digital timers are compatible and easy to fit myself.

Thanks.

John.

There are none that are a straight swap. All will require a different backplate and minor wiring alterations. On the plus side most programmers come with a conversion guide.

The Switchmaster 805 is a ACL/Drayton/Invensys programmer.

Go to the Drayton site and have look for a compatibility chart. I think the 805 has been discontinued now though and the SM2 is its replacement.

If that is so, then look for a digital programmer that is compatible with the SM2 with the same wiring.

The wall plates are usually universal. So other programmers made to fit a universal wall plate would fit, but may not be wired up the same way.

If you do decide to do it yourself, I would advise you observe all safety aspects of the job at all times.

Good Fortune!
