Hi I have an Alpha cd28c combi boiler,it stopped running hot water, heating was ok.New diverter valve and motor fitted.Boiler now continually losing pressure overnight.New Pressure Relief Valve fitted still loses pressure, new Auto Air Vent fitted and now pipe feeding condensate trap dripping water. Most noticeable when room stat is manually increased.Any ideas as engineer seems stumped.

Yes mate. Find another engineer. One that works on this make of boiler.

Failing finding another engineer, ask your engineer to contact Alpha technical helpline.

so why not just give him your possible answer instead of him racking up bills on another clueless engineer, I would be thinking heat exchanger

Because me actual other recommendation would be to take it out and put a Vaillant in its place.

Which is fine but please don’t give boiler fixes on open forum no matter how high level

Ok sorry op I’ve not seen or diagnosed your boiler I’ve took a guess at a possible answer, advised what your engineer could check and if correct your probably cheaper with new boiler but doesn’t need to be Vaillant as advised

I think he knows that.

personally I don’t want extra responses I’d rather you didn’t post at all when your just wasting everyone’s time, if you can’t advise a possible solution then why post at all, the guys looking for advice he’s £300 lighter already, his engineer is stumped, you think sending him to another engineer is the best option, what if that engineer was again costing another £300 with still no results, that’s him touching new alpha money, but your next answer was almost correct, take it off the wall but replace with something that suits his budget and not limited to your own preference

Excuse me ..... there is a reason

Wow chaps chill out seriously. We’re all entitled to an opinion as is the Op just because you don’t agree doesn’t make it wrong

This guy has came here looking for direction after paying a sizeable bill, from what we can guess, that bill is scrap and he has another bigger one to come, he is now a customer of this site and would appreciate good advice from trusted engineers, would you like any of your customers to be ripped off by incompetence as potentially you are just putting him straight into the hands of any dafty, I’ve not went step by step or on a how to repair manual, I’ve had a guess as to a possible check for his engineer which you’s can’t deny is plausible, recommending another engineer and a boiler which has potential to be twice the price doesn’t suit customers needs so unless you can advise someone trusted locally to him, I’ll stand by my opinion thanks Dake

Wind your neck in a bit fella, yes everyone is entitled to an opinion but no one is trying to force anyone to do anything, you’ve been here 5 minutes and are trying to ruffle feathers of people that have helped thousands of other posters on here so please keep it friendly. Without enlisting another engineer how is the OP going to get out of the stalemate then? You can’t tell them on here as it’s forum rules. Don’t like it. Tough. The OP is not a customer of us as we offer free and impartial guidance where we can. Another engineer can be the manufacturer or a one man band that knows the product. you can’t deny that, that is the only logical next step as they won’t be getting advice on here as to the repair process. And I don’t think you’ll find anyone is telling anyone they need a Vaillant. Do a search on here you will find that this argument on the best boiler comes up about three times a week. We’re happy to have you fella but play nice.
