Continuous noise from indirect water cylinder

I have moved into a house with a Joule Cyclone CY200L indirect cylinder in my loft. Recently it seems to continuously be making a noise, as if it's filling up or heating up, I'm not sure which.

The thermostat on the side is set to 55, when I turn it below 50 there is a click and then the noise stops. But it doesn't come back on at all. So the noise from the cylinder is either continuous or silent. I've read that I should have the temperature set at over 55 to prevent bacteria in the water but I'm worried that it's costing me a fortune because it never seems to stop running!

Any advice would be appreciated.

What is your heat source?

It will take about 4 hours to heat up from cold using a 3kW immersion.

Is the cylinder losing water through the tundish?

The heat source is a traditional boiler. Yep, 3kw immersion.

There is a drip about every 10 seconds into the tundish. Is that normal?

Shouldn’t drip at all, lost water is replaced with cold and needs heating up.
Needs looking at by a G3 plumber.

Is it possible the immersion is permanently switched on, and the thermostat you talk about is for the boiler?

I'm not sure. The thermostat is literally attached to the cylinder so I'm certain it's for the storage temperate, not the output. But I could be wrong. I'm still getting to grips with the heating layout in my new home. There are two digital, wireless thermostats - one controls the radiators upstairs, the other downstairs. Then there's a Danfoss controller in the airing cupboard that seems to link to the boiler downstairs and the cylinder in the loft. I'm not sure if the thermostats override the Danfoss or vice versa. I think I'll get an expert in who can (hopefully!) walk me through it.
