This may be of interest, maybe not!

I went into a Wilkinsons store last week for a pen refil, they didn't have one but on the way out I saw the tools section, I walked through and they had some copper pipe 15mm x 2m. It was £4.50 per length!I thought that was cheap so took the 2 lengths (as it was all they had) to the checkout, asked if it was correct, yep, so I asked for more, they didn't have any but were expecting a supply next week.

Went to Wickes and 15mm pipe was nearly £7!

I'll be back at Wilkies next week!

Maybe worth a look if you have a local one.

Cheers

Rocket.

pulled a bend with it yet??
tried cheap copper before and kept kinking when bending it .

£4.50 for 2m or nearly £7 for 3m, not much in it mate to be honest. Go to your merchant I paid £61inc for 30m of 15mm this week.

umm, can I ask where you are based, here its 9.99 for 3 metre length, £8.79 for 2 metres.

The wilkinson copper is kitemarked I believe as seen it before, never really noticed price but no good for me as parking is a nightmare in town, 5 traffic wardens in 3 roads.

And as said before, rare that I get 1 length, usually pack of 10

Talking of deals....check your local B&Q's bargain section.

I got three thermostatic blending valves (packaged and branded) for 50p each. I got a bent bypass valve (again branded but can't remember who by) for 50p, I got a can of Fernox F5 for a fiver, and finally I got one of those 'sure stop' stop cocks for 50p.

Amazing. I bought the blending valve as I thought it was reduced to a fiver, but when it scanned through at 50p I went back and picked up the rest. One of them had allready gone in the time it took me to go back.

It can all sit as stock for a couple of years at that price.

Those Surestop stop cocks.....they're a bit weird. A stopcock in the form of a lightswitch. I'm sure I'll fit it eventually. I think they retail at £40, so I'll make a profit on it.

how are you going to fill out your invoices without the pen refill? :)

My local B and q sell these thing for 50p less then usual price but with the main part missing, so no good for nothing. Maybe you went on right day as they go really cheap once they want to get rid of everything to put xmas decorations out

Those SureStop valves are really good, especially for people who have arthritis or joint problems and cant turn a stopcock. I got a load of these cheaply too from B&Q. They are from the original company who made them that went bust so B&Q sell them off cheap. Note that the guarantee is void now as the original manufacturer no longer exists. B&Q sell off all their stock from companies that went bust this way for pennies. I got a load of Durakit workwear for next to nowt too.

i always thougt b n q owned duraakit , learn something new every day

never anything worth having in our been and queed even stuf thats knackered they knock a pound of of 50

mmm.....I bought two of the remote version a few years ago for £8 quid each at merchants and they both leaked like crazy, silly tiny push fit tubes that would have flooded a house out had I not checked them first.

Well I was made up with my bargain bucket bits. I've never fitted a Sure Stop, but when I do, I'll carefully check it. Thanks for the heads up.

You're right, apparently it is discontinued stock. However how a Drayton Bypass valve can be discontinued is beyond me?!

For 50p you really can't argue. I don't often go into B&Q now. I prefer Plumbfix.....who are owned by B&Q. If they don't get you one way, they get you another!!

Use the tie wraps that are supplied with a Surestop to secure the hose unit. The hoses must have 8mm insereted. Never had one fail but I'd prefer them to be compression instead of Speedfit as its a pain connecting to imperial pipe.

I may have bought two faulty ones, thinking back I do remember them being on the counter for weeks and no one else had bought them, maybe he saw me coming?

I thought I could make a nice little profit on those but I wasted my £16 + VAT.

Surestop. What happened to a solenoid valve and a switch? You could even put them on a programmer and make sure the crm was off when you went out or on holiday. Been out for years and years.

I have a solenoid valve in my lockup. Came with a rain water harvesting kit that I fitted, but wasn't required in the method we installed. Frankly is seems like a lot more effort fitting an electric solenoid valve compared to fitting one of these...plus are they WRAS approved as a proper method of isolation?

I think so but I'm not sure many self respecting plumbers would want to trust them. Then again, if it means clearing out all the greasy tins, saucepans, dead mouse, wet and old dish clothes, fallen down box of washing up powder and so on just to reach the stop tap ...
