Hi, I am thinking of using either white or clear CT1 to re-seal a leaking shower tray. I know it is expensive so would it be just as good to use a good grade silicone sealant. I obviously need something that will last and is waterproof.
Any other suggestions are welcome

many thanks

Problem with ct1 is the white doesn’t stay white

Ideally a good sanitary sealant mapei is good

They make a bathroom one called BT1. They claim it never goes mouldy. CT1 is not silicone. It is very good and lasts a long time without leaks.
The only disadvantage is it cannot be easily removed or dissolved with sealant removers and new silicone might not adhere in future if any residue remains.
BT1 might never ever leak but note the other persons comment about whether it will stay white.
Ask the installer to use a cramer smoothing tool, not finger/dish soap and the finish will look perfect.
Buy good quality expensive silicone as cheap stuff is garbage and will leak / not last.
The key to mould prevention is ventilation.
Dow and soudal seem good quality and unibond and mapei I think are good

CT1 is great for sealing a leaking shower tray because it’s waterproof, mold-resistant, and long-lasting. High-grade silicone sealants are cheaper but can wear out over time. If CT1 is too pricey, consider Sikaflex EBT+ or Everbuild Forever White. Just make sure the area is clean and dry before sealing.

Thanks for the info. I decided to go for BT1 in the end, advertised as waterproof and mould and mildew resistant. Time will tell if its any good
