Distance from boiler to pump?

Does it matter how long the pipe work is between the gas boiler and the pump?

My boiler is on the ground floor and i'm currently changing to a fully pumped system (gravity DHW at the mo).
I'd like to put the pump in the airing cupboard on the first floor to save running F&E and O/V all the way down through the house.

Perfectly ok its the relationship between pump cold feed and vent thats important
