According to a report, DIY devalues your home by a minimum of 5%. Furthermore the content in the link below says that 450,000 people have attempted DIY gas work!

Agree with resolute. These reports are quite sweeping. I've seen examples of rubbish DIY by people wanting to save a few pennies and you feel like shaking them and saying '"Don't you realise you're just losing the pennies you saved and then some from your house price"? Equally, some people are very good at DIY and save themselves a lot of money over hiring a tradesmen. Like most things in life, its about being aware of your limitations I guess.
