:knife:Since getting my coverted plumbers arms membership I haven't really bothered with the rest of the forum. Preferring chat and banter with like minded tradesman, than telling some door knob how to fix his heating. There wasn't a lot going on here so I went for a look in the central heating forum. And I can't get my head round how many diy,ers are attempting jobs only gs engineers should be taking on. Even worse is how many members (obviously not all) are giving advise instead of the stock answer. Get some one in who, s qualified. Shouldnt all members be advised about this, it's an accident waiting to happen and goes against everything I thought we stood for. First maintaining profit and secondly safety.

I got email from admin warning about content of posts when I applied for Plumbers Arms and GSR only membership.

Don't know if this is standard procedure with new blokes or not.

Have noticed some GSR installers posting questions but because they are new to this site they cannot access the GSR forum.

Totally agree. I don't know why people waste their time giving diyers advice on here. It's totally pointless.
I can only think they are either trying to show off or just like trying to diagnose things over the internet.

The central heating forum just attracts all the diyers and is the forum I visit least.

Those who try and fix their own boiler rather than call a gsr add nothing to the forum and risk their own families lives. Posts from diyers trying to diagnose their own appliance should be removed and perhaps a clear message at the top of all forums advising not to give gas advice to diyers and to suggest diyers just look in the "looking for a plumber or gas engineer forum".

I wonder if a forum owner or mods could be charged with corporate manslaughter if a diy'er caused a fatality by misunderstanding information gleaned over t'internet!

We all by-pass safety devices at some stage but this is in a controlled and supervised situation and merely for diagnostic purposes.
