Drilling into a galv steel tank

Hello lads

got a quick question concerning cutting a new tank connector into a cold water storage tank. Im
fitting a new aqualisa Quartz at the weekend and and have never had to connect into a steel tank before. Is it the same as going into a plastic one? Don't wanna mess this up as obviously a nightmare it goes wrong.

I wouldn't. Time for a change of cistern. Can be done with hole saws and cutting fluid but I'd want to be really certain that the galvanised cistern is in good nick.

Agree with mike, even if you drill it you will probably find it full of crud , and when it leaks the year after it will be your fault.

just use a sharp hole saw use a hand full of putty or plumbers mate stuck on the back to catch any swarf if you leave swarf in the tank it will rust through
