Hi everyone,

I have recently moved into a new house. The central heating system works fine but from time to time the noise coming from the airing cupboard is so loud that it wakes my children. Due to this we can't have the heating on at night, obviously its getting colder now and I cant afford a plumber. The house is privately rented but the landlord doesn't seem to care. In the airing cupboard is the hot water tank and a celsia multi head pump (think its a pump anyway) there are 6 radiators in the house all with thermostatic controls. If anyone can help with solving this problem I'd be very grateful. I dont know what other information you might need. The noise is a loud rumbling rather than a whining in case this helps. Thank you.

is there much corrosion around the pump?.
put your hand on it and fire up the heating, does it vibrate?..

Is heating and hot water heated by the same system?

Try land lord again and explain you can not have heating on due to sound and maybe dangerous
also mention getting colder,no heating, children in property and that if nothing is done ,you will have to call Environment Control and get them involved

Yes they are both heated by the same system. The electronic control by the boiler has one side for hot water and one for heating. When the hot water side is switched on the heating comes on too.

I am contacting him today so hopefully he'll sort it out, Thanks for all the advice.
