Mine is a Maikita LXT Litium 18v hammer drill (£299) - very nice !

I have a dewalt one...but has anyone seen those makita ones in screewfix...2 batteries as well....£99...bargain..

Rawlplugs Mason Master. We used to call it a rawlplug jumper. Its truly cordless and all apprentices should be forced to use them until there thumbs are a bloody pulpy mess!!!. Sorry bout that I hate the damn things but have secret pleasure of watching someone else in pain.

just bought the £99 Makita 18v from screwfix with 3 batteries as my five year old Dewalt called it a day on monday. It was a bargain

you may need to keep the spare battery's on charge when your using the drill if there less than 2 amp hour as they go flat quick

I have a 1.3ah dewalt and the charge is crap. Try the 3ah makita lion batteries(£130 each) and you are in a different world.

Rawlplugs Mason Master, no Baterries just bleeding love slaves and appretices.

If you want a cheap deal get this, not a run-down Dewalt or last years Makita rejects -

Only 1 battery though . . .

Still not as good as mine!

Regardless of how unpleasant they are to use, they're still a very useful bit of kit. Perfect for starting awkward holes in very tough engineering bricks :)

I have an 18v Dewalt and find both the 2.6Ah NiMh batteries and the drill itself excellent. For anything that the cordless can't cope with I use a 4kg Makita SDS

i recently took one of these in to show a couple of young lads and they still dont belive this was how we drilled holes
using one of these tought you two things 1 how not to hit your hand 2 never use more screws than is absolutly necessary(a customer taught me to spell "necessary" one collar two socks)

I have no idea what a Mason Master is!!? I'm 30 years old, so they can't have been around for ages. No offense lads!

I have a Metabo 14V, it was one of the first lithium ion drills on the market. It's a bit crap as the forward reverse action is annoying. Plus is has this useless pulse action, for sheared screw heads (yeah right). It's about 3 years old and plays me up now. Slows down and speeds up. Battery still lasts ages though!

I also have an 18V Makita. Great tool. Plus a 18V impact driver. Also great.

Personally don't like Dewalt stuff. Had a Dewalt as my first drill, and lasted about 2 years.

I'm buying Hilti next time. I hear there stuff is the nuts. Only, you don't see it in B & Q!!

have just bought myself a dewalt 18v combi. small battery (1.3Ah so expect to always being charging but light to use). my previous drill was a cheepie that has lasted 4 years (also 1.3Ah batteries).
Would have loved to get a Makita 18V li-Ion but too expensive (unless the dewalt dies on me).

You can write tools off against your tax, so it pays not to scrimp. If I can afford it at the time, I'll always buy the best I can. We bought a cordless angle drill the other month, and bought cheap. It's OK, but takes about 4 hours to charge!

Agreed danny, tools are a legit business expense. like you say buy the best you can especially for the stuff you use all the time, unfortunately I could not quite stretch to the 200quid (or there abouts) for the makita.
