Moogwai,

Amazing - are you serious?

From what you have stated:

- I can assume there is around 30 Hours labour in the job...and for @ £800. to be split 3 ways.
- You are @ 30% cheaper than other quotes...and thats a fair wack on a job this size.
Either the other contractors didn't want the job or you missed something in your quote.

Oz....are you suggesting im too cheap?? Cant decide from your posts wether im too expensive or too cheap!! Lol. What would you be charging labour wise....just out of interest.

It makes no odds! He's in oz. no offence oz but how can you compare jobs from the other side of the world?!

[h=2]Ferroli are the worst boilers ever.[/h]
If your on a budget have you tried the Ideal Eco?.. PTS do it for a good price.

Pretty much the same as a logic.

Hi Fellas,

From what I can gather, from this thread and other threads, you guys charge about 50% of what we charge for labour.

I'm not too fussed about the material costs, because they are what the are, where ever you are and the market will decide what is sustainable.

As for a convict sponsoring a colonist....

Thanks mate, dont expect any help from me in the future and I urge all fellow members to follow suit. Lol.

Dont think we could get away with charging 50% more labour though..... Just wouldnt get any work.

I heard oz plumber is addicted to meths and lives on walkabout creek! That's not a spanner this is a spanner.

The ideal mini is same as I dependent.

Well he does have to pay for all those shrimps for his barbie!!!

A country who is associated with xxxx and fosters. Far to liberal.

He had quotes from bg and help link.... And its a neighbour with a little more than a pot to take a leak in. Dropped my original price by £500 hence the need for a rubbish boiler.... Think theyll be moving next year anyway.

Quotes from BG and unhelpful link? Jobs just gone up by £2k

So are you £1000.00 cheaper or now £1500.00 cheaper than the other quotes?

Either way, not only are you needing a cheap boiler, you are needing cheap everything!

Nothing like doing a job when, from the minute you walk in the front door, you know you're on a loser.

Walk away! Please.

Agree when it all starts getting so tight you consider fitting italian tat the likes of fer-all-lies or biasis then they cant actually afford a new install and so shouldnt have one.

Not everyone is in the postion to be able to afford the top spec boilers.....are you saying that these people should be ignored and dont have the right to have heating put in their houses.

The fact is I priced up for vaillant and intergas and he told me he couldnt afford it and budget was 2500. So I have priced up the best of a bad bunch and he has chosen what he can afford.

As long as install is to regs the boiler manufacturer will have to honor the warranty.....leaving me out of it for 5 years apart from servicing......ill still earn as much money installing a crap boiler as I would a top spec boiler and thats what matters.

Yes I am saying that. Its the customers choice how they prioritise the money they have or dont to spend. People barely stop to think about spending hundreds of pounds on the latest mobile phone every other year or new car or tv or sky subscription but heaven forbid they should buy a quality boiler likely to last in excess of 15 years for £900. After all just how important is living in a reliably warm and dry home with running hot water. I understand you dont want to lose the business and thats fine. I just cant bring myself to fit the carp.

Mate, these guys dont have a sky subscription, they dont have the latest phone, they have a crap car which enables them to get from a to b..they work long hours for minimum wage.....not every family needing a heating install is from the jeremy kyle show!!!

And I dont need the business.....in fact I could do without as ive got enough on my plate.....just want to help genuine people who have no heating in there house!!

I hope for there sake they give you the job. At least that way regardless of which boiler it ends up being they will have a solid install.

Agreed,we aren't in the business to tell people to fit the best. We are there to to do a quality, safe job that fits into the customers budget. We can advise what we see to be the best out there and give an honest opinion in what they want fitted. With our advise they can make an informed judgment and that's what counts.

I have got the job lads....always had it, I know the family as they live in my road. They are nice family and I am helping them out a little with the price.....i dont mind and after what I saw tonight I dont think earning a huge whack off the job would be right.

Tonight ive just walked In from a house where a terminally ill dad was in bed waiting to pass on into the next life....his family were all around him waiting for him to pass on....kinda puts things into perspective.
I was there as the heating had packed as the zone valve was jammed closed. Normally at 8.15 at night I wouldve said i'll be back tomorrow with part to fit it, but the pain in their faces was evident and there was no way I was leaving without changing it. Job was in loft and took me an hour.
Gotta say it felt good leaving them with one less thing to stress about and the thankful look in their eyes as I left completely overuled any moaning I had planned for the journey home out. Just summat to think about.

Oh you're a lovely soul :) honestly!

its doing that little extra is something you will remember, look back on and think i've done my best!
