Hi Folks, I've just installed a Ferroli Optimax HE 31 initially it seemed to be working fine but now (2 days later) it has started playing up. Works OK on CH mode but when it switches to DHW the water is hot and flows fine but then when the tap is turned off it goes to D1 for 2 minute (which is correct) but then when the boiler restarts the temperature rises very rapidly there is a bit of a bang and then fault code A03 appears. Resetting the boiler works and the CH comes back on, until the hot water is used again. I'm wondering if the diverter valve is sticking in DHW mode causing the system to overheat. Anyone got any other ideas.

thanks

David

A03 is overheating, Check sensors, pump and if not bypass, also check boiler set up max power & min power, sounds like your new boiler is full of sludge, check C02 reading with an analyzer for some reason these boilers have high co2 readings although they are factory set. I always check the co2 on the optimax and nearly always have to adjust.

Hi did you find out what the problem was? I've got exactly the same problem.

Being an installer I'm not too hot on diagnostics.

Firstly check pump operation, check for any air in system or circulation issues.
Then look at the more probable fault, as with all these junk boilers is sensor/switch failure.

You need a gsr in to look at your boiler. We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a pm to either Gas man or Redsaw who will then check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Thank you.
