Fitting room thermostat to vokera excell 80 E

Hi guys,Im wanting to fit a room stat to this boiler.The wiring diagram puts the thermostat between terminals 1 and 3 and remove the existing link from 1 and 3 does this sound right?Also what position does the mechanical clock need setting?after fitting the stat?it has a switch built into it with a picture of a clock,set in middle position.
Would it then need setting to this position or would all the segments need pushing down around the clock face then the stat takes over?

Any suggestions at this stage would be great,Many Thanks.

Hi Reg Man,thanks for your reply.Im Sorry I should have mentioned the stat is a 7 day digital type so I don't wont the boiler responding to its mechanical clock.

What position would the slide switch need to be and would all the segments need pressing down or left up once the stat is wired in.
