Hi

appologies if this is in the wrong section but it didn't seems to fit in the gas safe forum either.

Potterton Netaheat 10-16. When the hot water is on, the boiler pump runs continuously even once the gas is shut off and the water is up to temp. The only way to stop it is to turn off the hot water.

any ideas? The boiler is very old, and I'm not even sure if parts are still available for a gas man to fit, but I can't afford to replace it yet.

The he water does get hot eventually, but takes longer than it used to.

Minot sure if the central heating has the same problem, as haven't used it for several months with the warm weather.

Thanks

neil

Hi Neil,
Welcome.
Can you tell the forum what you have in your airing cupboard with your hot water cylinder.
Are there 2 zone valves or 1 3 port valve. What timer / programmer do you have and do you have room and cylinder thermostats.

There is one 3 port valve, room and cylinder thermostats (heating and hot water respectively) and a Tado smart controller linked to iPhone. None of that has been changed recently and the controller works just fine turning hot water or heating on and off. We don't programme a schedule, just turn on and off manually as needed.

Not sure if the PCB has an overrun feature that keeps pump going to cool down boiler for a certain time period. May now b faulty. I think you'll be needing a gas engineer to check and rectify fault.
It's not a job to be tackled yourself either for safety of your family or legally.
If you tell d lads where you are in d country someone here with d qualifications may be able to call out to you.
All d best.

Could indeed be the boilers pump over run and the part associated with controlling pump over run, however as has been said, you will need a gas safe registered engineer to confirm the fault and carry out the necessary repair work.
