thats fair enough kirkgas. the training there is the foundation course, im pointing out that the acs will not train you to be a gas fitter, nor is it intended to.

ive spoke to many in the industry that dont like the foundation course as they feel its a short cut to being a gas fitter. i dont think it will be around forever, it will be replced by the new qcf units, maybe not this year or next but for sure things will change in next 5 years

i totally agree and wait with interest to see what comes along next, it has been mooted for a few years that maybe the way forward would be a half-full day per year as CPD making sure you are updated with changes etc rather than the pressure of coming back in for the full bhuna every 5 years, which i kinda agree with but have said many times there are far too many re-assessments coming through who simply do not know the basics and it isnt good enough, they moan about it being a disgrace needing to come back every 5 years so why dont they come in for assessment only, even after 2-3 days refresher training they are mince and struggle for days doing the assessments
