Came along this one yesterday, the use of an anaconda downstream direct from the meter going into steel male thread. NCS then put in copper 28mm. Any thoughts on labelling it NCS or AR?

I've always looked at it as 2 anacondas with meter securely fixed NCS, 2 anacondas with meter loose AR.

I've seen new meters fixed with two anacondas , I was told it was NCS ..

NTCS..end of as gasmarc says.

The requirement to fit meters on rigid outlets is not retrospective and the flex outlet need only be replaced by the meter operator if a meter is exchanged.

ntcs unless showing signs of distress, see them all the time lazy gas meter fitters lol

Might be shot down for this but

I cant see the problem, as long as the meter bracket is securely fitted to the wall/ floor.

If the inlet flex is damaged gas escapes @ up to 40 mbar ? max.

If the outlet flex is damaged gas escapes @ up to 21 mbar working max.

Both leaks are controllable by the ECV.

Bearing in mind I often call out Transco " or your local franchise !!" for low working pressures.

Normally they replace the governor, always better than digging up the customers block paving !! A little help from a nice sweeping bend can help a struggling combi rather than a 90 degree black iron elbow.

Before someone "suggest's you should run the pipe you need from the meter outlet" Have you managed to find a supplier that stocks or can supply a 28mm meter union ??

Kev.

^^ Pics or your reply means nothing LOL :innocent:

Destroyer do you mean a U6 gas meter union with a 28mm soldered or 1 x inch connection ?

Not a 3/4 to inch bush !

Yeah exactly the same as 22mm with the grove to slide into the bracket but 28mm soldered at the end

I said I WOULD BE SHOT DOWN!!!

I have asked both my local suppliers recently for these and they both said they cant get them.

Good find Grahamgas and thank you.
I still cant see the problem with 2 x meter flexes. :hurray:

Sorry Grahamgas my internet cut out whilst I was replying to Destroyer in jest no offence at all meant.

i had a customer who had a sparks in and managed to blow a hole in the anaconda and caught fire , I arrived on job and replaced anaconda , Transco arrived the next day to major leak in the drive and evacuated all surrounding houses, Some prat from Transco said that I should not be fitting a anaconda as they are gas board fitting which is total rubbish , Then he says he would have done the job for £30 ,Prat

Thank you chaps as always I will have an interesting chat with my local suppliers!

Kev.

ps I still cant see the problem with 2 x flexi connectors.

ps I still cant see the problem with 2 x flexi connectors.

It's all down to the theft of gas. From BS 6400-1:

8.9.2 Only one pliable connection shall be used within the meter installation

Note: The reasons for the use of only one pliable connector are given in 8.6.1b

The installation shall be prepared such that:

8.6.1.b the meter can be fitted and supported so as to restrict movement and reduce likelihood of tampering

Just had to check which section this was in before i said this but "some" meters don't register if you lay them on their back........allegedly.
