Hi Guys, went to this yesterday. Gas meter built below ground and hence in the recent weather half under water. Its a new build of six years old. whats the comeback on gaurentee's etc. Also found the flue to be too near to the guttering. Have tried to post photos to no avail. will keep trying. Cheers.

report the gas meter box to the grid, they will come out and decide whats best. I have worked on tons of new build sites and they tend to let the labourer fit the boxes to the wall, had plenty of arguments with site agents over who should fit them..... i always have refused as its never in the contracted works and it clears me of any blame.

Ring the supplier but i doubt if they will do anything. The meters are waterproof. New builds seem to be the worst for this.

What flue.jpgabout the guttering being too close to the flue? its the one on the right.

AR if underwater with gas meter its actually somewhere in your viper about it (cant remember where think its the at risk section ) its because of potential corrosion

Meter is AR. Report to the supplier. Is it a semi con box? I hate them!

As for flue, do you have the manufacturers instructions? If not then NCS unless there are signs of POCs entering through the air vent, signs of incomplete combustion or damage to guttering/down pipe etc.

Of course that's just my view, others with more knowledge maybe able to advise better and as always I'm happy to be corrected (maybe I should have that as my signature)!

flue near the soffits AR as fumes can re enter via the fan outlet in regards to the meter box either ring the supplier or drill a few holes in the bottom of it obviously not with a electric drill

Just had another look at the pic, what is the flue under? I originally thought it was loft soffit but looks more like being under a window?

What's the rule on meter on boats? Something to do with highest tide mark! Can't remember for the life of me!

I have seen loads of meters where they are sitting in a pool of water. I usually just note I have mentioned to customer to inform their supplier. As tamz mentioned the meter should be the plastic waterproof unit for this purpose and I would not be getting too concerned unless I believed it being at risk of being completely submerged.
That's my take on it!

Unless the governor is under water I doubt I will come to any harm.

It is the home owners responsibility to correct a drainage problem, if the gas supply or pressure is adversely affected it would become ID and isolated I imagine.

its not the home owner who fitted the box at the wrong height tho, cant see how you can blame them. Should it not be checked by the main installer or meter fitter?
