Is it illegal mate.Im not a Gas man yet but whats wrong with the earth apart from the terminal block?

The terminal block! Which would likely vapourise under fault conditions, and could be disconnected. Better off crimped.

EDIT: and its on the flexi pipe the wrong side of the meter, haha!

This does not comply with the gas regulations.

12-(2)

"No person shall install a meter in any premises unless it is of sound construction adequate to ensure so far as is reasonably practicable that in the event of a fire gas is not able to escape in hazardous quantities."

The meter is normally held on the wall with a retaining plate.

Call your gas supplier.

Whats NCS lol.I carnt move it to the wall either because the gap behind the meter is two big and the pipe run for the mains wont reach that far

Thankyou mate.If i did this the land lord might get a large fine lol

Im glad you have told me mate

the earth is wrong on 3 points. it should not be fitted to the flex, it should not have a block connector, it should not have crimped ends on the actual bonding clamp but it should be a continuous from MET to both the gas and water mains. This is your landlords problem and it should be reported to him/her.

The meter seems to have a bracket so one can only assume its on bricks because the bracket is not secure to the wall. Either create a fixed shelf for it to satand on or report it to your energy supplier as an unfixed meter and they may come and fix it correclty for you.

Ncs not to current standards

Could the land lord get in trouble over this?

Unlikely. Unless you have compromising photos of him i stalling the bricks

Do any of you recognise this tag lol.National grid came out today and said its not fit for use,the Gas man found two gas leaks one being behind the cooker.National grid are also wanting information as to who installed it and said it should have Gas safe sticker on it.He asked was it our house my missus said no we are only renting it,so he asked where the landlord lived so they can bill her and question proberly who did the work.My missus said the Gas man was out side for ages to his boss asking what to do as its not in a fit state.

Thats crazy rick! Definately what you could do without!
Unfortunately alot of landlords out there think they that because its got a roof on it thats all that matters, i.e. dont do any maintenance or if they do they want it all cheap as chips! Famous saying thats used alot on this forum: pay peanuts, you get monkeys
Hope you find something worthwhile for yourself and the other half :)

I had a argument with a sgn engineer, he was saying that a meter does not need bracketed if it's on a floor or supported by shelving of a kitchen unit. I argued that it did. Who is right then?
