my teacher told us u dont need to know all the regs by head, but u should know where to find them

see techers do know what they are talking about, very good advice you got, very few people will be able to learn all the regs, but the trick is to learn all the basic things you need to do every day and know where to find the rest

Sorry to Hijack.

Garry38, I reckon i know you, same college up here in Scotland, lets not mention it just yet. Our lecturer in the college was an absolute nightmare, and still at his same old tricks leading students up the garden path, saying NVQ2,3 is very easy to complete, when in fact there was plenty to organise and keep evidence for.

Im in the process of gaining gas experience to qualify for ACS, which i hope to take in the summer.

Looks like a decent forum guys, keep up the good work.

A bit worried now!!! My gas part supplier informs me that I need a gas annalyser for the gas inspection !!!
I can't see why?
It is not a regulation (yet) and I use flame picture and gas rates to determine safety of appliances anyway.
Can anyone clarify this???????
Rob

if you had a test point before the boiler isolation valve you would be seeing at least 21mb loss is through the isolation valve internal pipework and multifunction valve if you ask the manufacturers what the resistance is through these itemsthey should be able to tell you i think worcesters qouted 1 mb
Steve Is correct, worcester Bosch has a technical bullet in about it, on a Vaillant you can lose as much as 2.5mbar across the isolator even with a short run of 28mm!

iv got my inspection in a few days reading these threads have really made me feel more at ease. cheers lads

Does the commissioning of the boiler require you to have an analyser? e.g. on Remeha boilers you have to check and set the CO & O2 levels!

Saying that - I had an inspection a few weeks ago, even though I have CPA1, I got the impression that as long as the gas rate is ok they don't see it as mandatory the have an analyser.

The inspectors are not too bad, I'm sure you'll be fine
