I was in the merchant s today and was told a story about a young plumber this week driving a hire van for the local authority his gas torch ignited and caused a fire in the back of the van unaware until smoke came into the cab ,he pulled over but was unable to do anything ,his boss had left his laptop in the cab also ! I had to laugh but as soon as I got back to my van I quickly put the lock on my torch ,just a reminder for everyone :)

I got in the habit years ago of taking the torch off the gas bottle when it goes in the van.

torch head comes off and both go in the soldering kit box :)

I do the same as the others. I've got one of the Rothenberger Hot Bags, I HAVE to take the gas bottle off for it all to fit into the bag. My boss on the other hand, leaves his all connected and just chucks it into his van.

Wheres that toolbox from for your soldering kit killy bing? Very Tidy! I also may have to steal your idea of using an atomiser spray bottle for cleaning joints afterwards, saves filling up a Tupperware tub of water all the time.

All my soldering kit lives in one of these, although my torch head does stay on after I had a bottle leak over night nearly lit a ciggy before I smell it.

dont think king billy's ef parts would last very long, I just keep all my guns and bottles in a rottenbuger bag, trouble is its gettng knackered so new system required idc :)

take it the one that leaked was mapp or one of the blue or red bottles stopped using them for the exact same reason, using primus now with a sf2 adapter they dont leak when disconnected

if I'm doing alot of soldering i have another box ffilled. Just use those in the box for tight places and lofts :)

gasman up a dewalt case :D

Always take head off. Use a generic case has guides, slices jet blue locktight and wool / abrasives, plus sf2 flux, flux brushes de burr and back stop for cm35 Keep wool and abrasives in a washed out flux tub to keep all the dust and swarf out of torch. Use a wet towel and wool to clean joints. .

Typical boy driving the van like Schumacher. Open the back of the van when he comes back and it is like Beirut

I did try the pious kit with the adaptor but found the gas coughed a lot as if it was a poor quality blend, I know that sounds odd but just didn't feel right to use

yes know what you mean, jet needs cleaning on mine it fans out to much, you have to constantly adjust

Some jockey at a local firm lets call them hale sweating used a rothy bottle as a hammer on an instal and blew half the kitchen out....

All installers must now use the old 8lb bottles for hot works

and actual hammers for hammering

Take the torch off the bottle every time!

I'm one of those who has everything that could possibly fit into my large Dewalt hold all and I carry it everywhere with me!

You never know, you could be soldering that leak repair when they ask you to tighten up that loose bath tap, or reseat that tap, or hang that picture or fix that shelf haha

Good point.

I've been known to use my Bahco slip wrench to hammer bits and pieces from time to time

I use anything i have to hand as a hammer thats why i like the primus bottles.
You could knock a flue out with one of those
