Be careful when disconnecting a can of gas and leaving it over night, my current can of gas spews gas when the head is off. Mappy gas did a big recall a year or two ago because of this same problem. Think I'll just leave the torch on the can from now on.

Always thought it a bad idea to unscrew the torch once it has been fitted. It is more dangerous than leaving it in place. Just store it up right and securely fastened in the van and check it every time for leakage. HSE advice, seen somewhere.

Personally (don't do as i do) i have never unscrewed a nozzle in my life, I've never placed my bottle in the van, i just kind of throw it in its place (or near enough).
I always (if i remember) turn it off at the thumb screw.
There has been times when driving the van when i thought maybe i should put this *** out then thought naw, open a windy, followed by i'd better pull into the merchants for gas.
Maybe i have a death wish

i have to agree a primus bottle is great for hitting stuff.

as for my soldering kit, its in a bucket.

my sweat box is an old, small stanley toolbox. i always remove torch from gas simply cos its too long to fit in the box otherwise.

Sweaty box - glad that's a wide used term and not just us. Removing head and clicking all residual gas out is in the rotten burgers mi

I've allways taken my head off, exect for those doggie Mapp cylinders the other year!!
I remeber being told as an apprentice that you wern't allowed to leave cylinders connected in transit!! but can't remeber who by!!

like the dewalt box, may look into them sometime, i also use a spray bottle, cools things down a treat without too much mess

I think a rep told me if you leave the bottle on the torch it can damage something inside!?

What u take it off every time u finished swearing a joint or warming tomato soup in pan?

I always take the head of the gas, the bottles kept leaking otherwise and I kept running out!

We lost a van years ago because a gas bottle ignited in the back of it, after that we disconnected, but as others have said too many leaks, so then we fixed a bit of 3" plastic pipe upright to the racking frame at the back door and slotted the bottle into it,
