Just finished a two day install. Boiler in the kitchen six foot away from the kettle. Lovely customers, very chatty and helpful etc but.... Turned up 8am yesterday, by 11am I'm gasping, 11.30am customer wanders in the kitchen "will I be in your way if I make a cup of tea?" me, "no not in the slightest sounds like a great idea" they made themselves a cup and buggered off back to the lounge! Six sodding cups they made themselves! And then, at the end, job done and I'm walking for the door, he hands me a tenner and says "get yourself a drink mate"!!! I bloody need it been parched for the last two days!

First thing on the job had to shut the water off. She shouted to me "wait a minute while I fill the kettle up, we're real teapots in this house!" I was thinking to myself I'm going to get gallons of tea here!

Did an oil boiler repair, eight at night, misty, drizzling and freezing cold. Boiler sooted up, outside combi, absolutely frozen silly then the customer comes out with a cup of tea saying how cold it was. I didn't even blink as I added 20 to the bill.

That's why I always take a flask of hot water and a jar of Lift with me.

Been struggling toady though, started the boiler swap on the job with the dodgy ventilation today and I was given tea and biccies on the hour and sat down to a plate of Chilli for lunch. Didn't touch my sarnies. I've got at least another three days on the job and it's looking like being a good job. I wonder what's for lunch tomorrow. Customer is a retired chef as well.

Thats the sort of job I like mike! Best one I had was a system in an Italian restaurant. Must of put on a stone that week and the coffee was amazing!

i like the chinky buffet over at xscape in castleford always seems to be i get there at dinner for some reason

If I'm thirsty I just ask them in a round about way, especially if they're nice and chatty.

customers must love me since i dont drink tea or coffee :)

i bring my own refreshments, i drink gallons when im doing installs, its heavy going especially when your trying to get it done in a day. At the moment im working on(well was) the scottish executive contract were old people(well...mostly old people) get new heating payed for by scottish government, so i find that most offer you tea and biscuits, old customers do seem to be the best, still prefer if they go out for the day though lol

when working on HA many many many asked if i wanted a drink .....hell noo after i have seen the state of the kettle and the tee cups

few times did really enjoy it tbh , had lunch as well

some customers are just good and they know if they look after people will get job done %100

agreed some of the houses ive worked in are disgusting, dont usually offer you anything anyway, but when they did only ever accepted the cleaner houses which was in the minority

whats the matter with you lot????? just tell put them to get the kettle on it aint hard

I don't ask in a round a bout way, I just ask. Normally, finished with, if you'd like I'll make it myself.

If I am left on my own, before they leave I ask is it ok to use the kettle.

I have no shame when it comes to tea and coffee. Today, I was working in a house that is a renovation for a property developer, she came in and said is everything ok,

I said 'yes any chance of you putting the kettle on' she roared with laughter and came back with a coffee and a tea, I said 'biscuits finished? again roar of laughter and 'don't push your luck'

What's up with you lot? Never been a tea monster myself. I just take a bottle of water, drinking hot drinks slows me down too much!!

You're not a proper plumber unless you can sink a couple of gallons of tea a day. Did they teach you nothing in college? First two years in college were spent learning how to drink tea properly and on bladder enlargement exercises.
