Hi! I can't find another post on the same subject but apologies if I have missed one.

i moved house last November and soon after had a free BG boiler service which reported no problems.

recently we had a surprisingly large gas bill and it got me thinking:
* the boiler is in the attic above the bathroom so we have it set up like a big airing cupboard, but it is always hot, very hot in retrospect...
* the orange light on the front is always on as far as I can tell and the boiler always making noise, sometimes it makes more as water is actually used for example, but there is constant hum

i have turned off heating a water and left it for some time, stays in the same state.
i have removed the timer from the attempt to eliminate dodgy timer from the problem, stays in the same state
if I remove power from the boiler then turn it back on then it almost immediately fires up again

i don't want to call out someone if this doesn't mean what it appears to so I just thought I'd check here first
does the Orange light mean the boiler thinks there is demand? I.e. The boiler is constantly on? Is there anything else I can try before spending for a call out?

thanks in advance for any confirmation or ideas!

Afraid you're going to have to call someone out, old mate. Roughly whereabouts are you? One of us might cover that area.

Thought that might be the case, thanks for the quick reply!

I'm in West berks, will try to get hold of the people who lived after are old boiler tomorrow then

Thanks again :)
