Sorry but your boss doesnt understand the absolute BASICS of sealing a pipe... Quite worrying really... Dont use PTFE! Just smear some paste on the olive, i use jet blue plus and 99% it NEVER leaks!! PTFE on compression knuckles, straights, tees is in my eyes cowboyish! And the people who do it need to get back to day1 and start their training all over again... Thats if they got any training!

Sometimes i do wonder!?!? but he pays the wages and that I can't argue with!!!

Look what the roofers did

So if your boss said to do something dangerous and against any regulations, just because he pays your wage would you still do it?

That's Not the same...putting a bit of PTFE on is a totally different thing! In my professional opinion I am doing it his way on his jobs, my jobs I do my way, I need paying and don't want to cheese him off. But I do Agree with YOU! even our GSR thinks he's batty but then that's life Thanks for the debate though!!!

That boiler reminds me of an oil boiler in an about 10 year old detached house that was stopped a week ago.
The perlite insulation had all fell inside the high chimney, which I assume is only clay liners & blocked the flue solid & filled the boiler up to the top baffles! How this worked I don't know, but all 8 baffles are in bits & Riello nose cone is melted!

Unfortunately see far too many instances like that where the householder cannot be arsed to get their boiler serviced.

That was the case with the job I looked at & the owners admit it, to be fair. But, if it had been regularly & properly serviced, it would perhaps have been discovered sooner, but can't help thinking that Perlite could have poured down like salt at anytime.
New condensing boiler with balanced flue going through wall is the outcome.
