Help joining waste pipe to shower waste please

Hi, just a quick question about the standard way you connect 40mm waste pipe to the outlet of this waste I have. The waste outlet is too big compared to the tube to be solvent welded (it's more like 43mm internal diam) and there are no threads to allow a compression fitting, I'm confused.

What’s the od of the second step in might need a 11/2 coupling etc eg cut off the first part

I'll have a look tomorrow and see if the tube fits into the second part, I hadn't even considered I might have to cut off the end section, so thanks for the suggestion 👍
