not sure where your coming from there but the best advice has been given in that you need your system setting up properly. You cant understand it yourself and have to rely on the fact that those coming in do, and its obvious whoever installed your sytem either got it badly wrong as they had never done any training or read the instructions either. Alternatively you may just not understand how a correctly set up system works, and I'm hoping thats the case this time and a decent heating technician could come in and check it over and explain it to you in an hour quite easily. forget the tv shows as there are many more decent people working out there who tar the rest of us unfairly.

Does anybody know where is the heating mode button on the ST9420C so I can check that the remote is bound to it?
