Is the pipe marked with the name etc? As it looks like a plastic pipe introduced many years ago for cold water work(name escapes me) jointing method solvent weld.
Having started in the game before plastic was introduced it fare to say its introduction has created many issues. The longevity of the material and purpose must have been achieved using science for the sales blurb. It has made plumbing easier, saving time and money and adding to callout work / repair work that it creates, which pays the bills. Rant over

From the cheap seats here - as well as the expert info presented - I'd like to add if its the grey unbranded pipe from Screwie , its has 1 year warranty while the white JG Speedfit has 25 year warranty. As an Electrician I wouldn't be buying a cable with a 1 year warranty, just sayin :)

Thanks for all the input. For those of you wasting bandwidth guessing at the pipe spec it is as stated in my original post: HEP2O Barrier. It might look like something else you've seen - but it isn't!

Good to know. FWIW, I've seen this installation instruction for HEP2O which seems to show it being used adjacent to pumps as you had it.
