I would like to make a VCR stand from copper tube and pipe clips to go in my cupboard.
But I am stuck for ideas as I’ve not done anything like this before, so I could really do with some diagrams, plans anything like that.

The stand is for a couple of VCR players, a Sega Saturn and a switching panel for Scart connectors. Yes I know they're old but I still use them and they're fun.:8:

The feet will rest on copper sheet soldered or brazed on to upturned ends or on top of an elbow that‘s on its side, and it will be fixed to wall and shelf with bibtap brackets and pipe clips.

I was originally going to use 3/8" ply, then to hide the joins at the front so it looks like one piece, I was going to mark out the profile on a sheet, cut it out, take off most of the layers from the back and stick it on the front.
There would have to be holes for air circulation on the platforms and side.

But then I thought copper pipe would look so much :coolgleamA: and different from anything else I've seen, I'm not really into trendy stuff but I thought this is a bit different.

I will post some pics when it’s done.
Any diagrams, plans or models please, would be appreciated, Thank you.

Plus I would like to practise bending and soldering and don't want to waste the pipe if possible.
So I thought why not and it will look really :coolgleamA: hopefully.

That table looks really cool! I'd make it with chrome or Stainless Steel tube though. If the table is to be wall mounted for the VCR's, I'd recommend fixing a couple of wall brackets fixed to the wood to give it extra support and take the weight off the tube.

Nice idea though, might look out some scrap pipe and get creative! LOL

VCRs n Sega saturns lol old skool, dont know how you do it mate I couldnt live without my ps3 and hd films

Last week I found an old Betamax video recorder! This was the original war of wars between Betamax and VHS before Blueray and HD vid got into a battle with each other more recently.

Showing your age there system3! I can just about remember the top loader video recorder we had when I was a kid.

I bought an old Nintendo NES from ebay a while ago from about 1985, mint and fully boxed and with an R.O.B robot that was only in the early ones are very rare to find in good nick. I bidded like a madman in the dying seconds of the auction against all the pro collectors and won by a few pence.

Keeping it safe to sell on in 20 years for big profit.

Grandad made the mistake of getting a V2000 video recorder - the format which became obsoloete first. The advantage with it was, however that the tapes were 2 sided.

Who was it who brought out the system that was LP sized, but shiny like a CD, you could't record only play?

Laser discs? Pioneer I think, they never took off due to them being far too expensive and you had to get up and turn the disc over half way through the film.

Not too sure about this, but was it the disc system brought out either by Sony or Toshiba?

And yes I'm also feeling my age, but again you only feel as old as the women you feel! LOL

aye, age is nothing but a number. hugh hefner 84 & wife 24 hefner-harris-AP.jpg

dirty old man or lucky brass-tard?

If she's 24 I'll eat my own face off... I'd say nearer 30 something but with a chunk of work done!!

Still.. dirty old B though! Saw him in Heathrow a few years back, he looked like someones grandad that had necked half a pack of ****** and gone through the escorts section of the phone book with his credit card out.

Will the VCR still work after digital switchover?

One is digital the other isn't, but the one that isn't will really only be doing tape to tape to the digital one, so aerial won't be going in.

On another note I had a tv for christmas (nothing fancy though) so the 14" CRT came out, but as I was putting in the digital vcr I thought will it work with the crt (I was told it would not do digital) Took some time trying understand the manual otherwise done it sooner.

The crt has a 8" loop aerial at the back and a lead for it to plug in to the back, well I plugged it into the vcr and the vcr into the tv (via aerial in not scart, and it worked, got digital no probs, yep from a loop aerial I kid you not.

Betamax was the better one as well, but it came down to money and clout and VHS won.

Yeah, but then you keep losing the cd's like the Red Dwarf crew said in attack of the suicide squid 2 or return to reality ? something like that.

Videos are just so big you can't lose them lol.

We had one of them, the buttons at the front stuck out about an inch and had to push them down about an inch and satisfying click to lock.
