Wendy Dabbs

Hi Wendy here sorry but I am very new to heating, I have an ideal logic eat 15 installed less than 2 yrs ago, I was getting f&d showing and got out th engineers, they replaced a water flow sensor but it still did not work, thay said I need to bleed the radiators and if that did not work then I needed a new pump, well the radiators were bled and I bought a new pump (grundfos ups 2) my old one had been in over 30 yrs as have my radiators, pump installed still no hot water or hot radiators, now my boiler seems to have stopped working all together hopefully it is just the fuse, has anyone any ideas????????????PLEASE

Call them back out that boiler has quite a long warranty, did you get Ideal engineers out or a private guy ? is boiler completely dead ? if you put on a call for heat does the pump run?

could also be a blockage or airlock if its an old system

it was the installers that came out (dyson) and it only has a 2 yr warranty, no boiler is not dead and yes the pump does work

I'd still call them back, did the system work after they left ? or did they just fit new part & leave without testing that system worked ??

jtsplumbing, no the system did not work when they fitted a new part, they wanted to bleed the radiators but i told them i had just done them, so they said we needed a new pump, we had an old grundfos that they dont do any more so was told the new one was a grundfos ups 2, bought and fitted and it still does not work.

Well they were the last ones to work on your boiler ! call them back ! have you paid or do you have some sort of contract with them ? did the boiler even fire up when they left ? Call them back explain that a new pump as been fitted as they recommended and nothing is working, DO NOT attempt to do anything to the boiler yourself !! tell them after there call nothing is still working & you want it sorted.

well I did what you asked and called them, they won't be coming out, no I have no contract with ideal logic as dyson never registered our new boiler with them and i was never told to do so, the manager with dyson is supposed to call me this morning and try to advise me what to do, STILL WAITING FOR CALL

Hi again still waiting for the managers call, now supposed to be this after noon we have also found that the fuse in the reset/test box has blown, changed that fuse 5 times and blown every time, WHAT IS HAPPENING? If I don't get any satisfaction from dyson as my system is under 2 yrs old (just) where can I go to get help?

Double check your installation date if under 2 years call Ideal B4 it to late !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is under 2 yrs old by 2 month, but was told it had not been registered with them, called dyson and they said i should have registered it with the card they left when installed, still looking for that supposed card, was hoping for some help from dyson but they just said they would call ideal but if it was not the boiler i would get charged, this was a free installation as i am a pensioner and disabled, so they don#t seem to care, i am at the end of my tether now.

its down to the installer to reg the boiler as you need things like gas safe no serial no etc

they did say it was registered with gas safe but not with ideal themselves

I was going to say what jts said. But seems as if Ideal (and dyson) have short changed you? Assuming the comissioning section of the Benckmark form was filled, I'd have expected any decent manufacturer to honour the warranty, even if the boiler was not registered after installation. Except where the customer hasn't been 'wise enough' to service the boiler annually as recommended. For some strange reason Wendy, I'm guessing that since installation, you haven't serviced the boiler?

this was supposed to be serviced every year, dyson told us they were going to service it but did'ent turn up, warranty runs out in December

Well, my gut feelings were right. Somehow, just somehow, I was convinced you haven't serviced the boiler since it was installed. In as much as I communicate with my customers (for whom I have installed boilers) that a service is due, sending them reminders, a few choose not to respond????
In your case, it's just unfortunate but chances are Ideal will not honour the warranty if boiler hasn't been serviced. Worcester Bosch would have. I'm not a fan of WB, but big boys like them go out of their way to 'make the peace'.

i do have a gas safety cert it has a licence no. 3164042 does this make sense gas safe reg no. 203642

No Wendy, it is of no help I'm afraid. A boiler service is not the same as a landlord safety certificate. It's like not servicing your car but saying you did obtain an MOT for the year? If servicing is a requirement, then that's what the manufacturer will want to see.
