Hello,

First post on this forum so be gentle with me!

I have recently had the heat exchanger changed on one of the title boilers and it has gone again after only 2 months.

I have spoke to a local guy who reckons that there will be corrosion in the system and this is causing the problem, but the whole CH system is only 5 years old and is made up of copper and speed fit. Does this sound right folks?

Has anyone any suggestions what the problem might be and a possible solution, my thoughts are that the heat exchanger is suspect but hey, i'm new to this.

I have to confess that I am not a central heating expert, just a fairly recently qualified plumber and electrician (I've just left the RAF) so as I said, BE gentle with me!

Thanks for any help,

Grum

Hi,

Thanks for the response, when I say gone, I mean that i'm not getting any heat out of the system again. The original exchanger lasted almost 5 years than the new one only two months!

There are no leaks so I have been told that there will be "crud" in the system. Does this sound possible?, the whole system is 5 years old, has had Sentinel X300 and Tower *** added from new. The piping is @ 50-50 copper nad plastic.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Graham

sorry im not familiar with nad plastic he he
drain your system down and have a look at the water that comes out!
if its clean put some more inhibitor (sentinel) if not put in a cleanser. If there sludge, powerflush it.

sounds like the plate to plate heat exchanger is getting blocked by debris
take the exchanger off and clean it
but if the system has dirt in it, it will block up again
