If you didn't have insurance then things would be different. That said if the clay pipe is definitely 100% in tact I would have popped a kcal pine dc1 I there and fixed it by now. Why should you put up with the hassle so they can skin a few bob. Seriously DC1 drain connector then you have a 110mm socket presented above the floor you may need a slip coupling both parts cost less that £30.
