Get some proper advise of a registered gas engineer then you can make a solid decision
 
Nooo don't use them get a local gas safe eng out
 
why British gas ?

Cos I don't know anyone else in Accrington as I don't live in England. Was there for 3 weeks to see the children and saw this house and put an offer in and offer was accepted. The only builders, gas engineers, electrician and plumbers that I know and trust are in Pickering North Yorkshire where our cottage is...

Have you asked them do they know anyone local to the property also you could post the job up to see if one of us are local ?

And make sure it's sited on a firm masonry wall and not a timbered wall.
 
Seen them on outside walls in New Zealand but that particular area would not get down to freezing. Guess that the regs. would not be the same as UK. On wood walls as well!!
