i understand that a leaking air vent in a combi is a sign that the expansion vessel is undercharged or split, but im not sure why exactly, is it just under a higher pressure than designed for so causes a leak, or is it something else ??

many thanks.

no i didn't mean schrader valve mate, i was watching the mr combi dvd a while back and he said that a leaking aav is a sign that the expansion vessel is gone, just wondered why that may be ?

I to have been watching the mr combi dvd and he does say its a tell tale sign the expansion vessel has gone. Still not sure thats entirely right to be fair.

It's defo not right, but no one believed me when I posted it originally, it's good to have someone to back me up.

I no but i needed to move forward so needed it to further my knowledge on breakdowns. To be fair the price should come down massively for what you get.

After a boiler service, at the beginning of the year. It passed and we were told it was fully functional. Over the course of a few weekes. We could hear gushing noises when we turned on the heating. We bleed the radiators and only a hiss, no sludge or water. Strange. As Radiator nearest boiler was not heating up. Checked all the rads.Red cap on top of potterton boiler was loosened and then a leak occurred. Turn the cap tight and it stopped. Now its turned off fully. Is this an air vent replacement job or is there a chemical flush needed. I would be grateful for your help. Thank you
