I fitted a new indirect open vented cylinder in some ones house about 6 months ago . It has started leaking slowly from the seam near the bottom & I am not sure what to do about it .
1. Return it to where I got it from & hopefully get a free replacement .
2. Empty it , turn it upside down & try to solder it up .
3. Find some kind of waterproof glue / sealer .
or try something else ,
I have only tried soldering a cylinder once & it did not work . Has anyone got any ideas please .

Get a Replacement

If you try and repair and it doesn't work you have 2 hopes of getting a replacement afterwards

Usually, although its probably a bit late to be doing it, considering how close we are to Christmas.

The procedure was to contact the supplier and get the cylinder manufactures rep to come out. If its a leak from their product and its been installed right, they usually take full responsibility and replace it, with no further cost to you.

Without a doubt I would not try to repair it, you may end up in a worse position. I can understand your problem though, being moaned at because its leaking and struggling to get it sorted by Christmas.

just a note, make sure it's leaking from the seam, not from one of the unions further up and trickling down.

Sorry for your bad luck!

Thanks everyone , I will contact my supplyer . I will have to dig out the receipt now .
I hope everyone has a great 2010 .
