Ehup chaps, I can't believe I am posting this.

3 year old logic, my daughters and her chaps ( sorry he's a sparks )
i went round on sat afternoon , depressurised system, checked and topped up ex vessel , repressurised.
hes topped it up twice since , there's no sign of a leak anywhere , he can go under the house and can see every pipe and joint, all ok.
Obviously not that lucky upstairs, but no sign of stains on ceiling.
Nothing coming out of PRV

Any ideas ??

Re: Logic loosing pressure

How much pressure is it loosing ?
Only three places usually.
Prv, Exp, or a system leak.
PRV Put a plastic bag over prv to check if its loosing water when at 1.5 bar.
EXP watch pressure gauge when its pressurised and switched on if it goes
way up Exp is goosed - get a seraerate one and hook it in somewhere
£30 or so
SYSTEM if its dropping to 0.5 or 1 bar and stayin there its usually a leak

centralheatking

Re: Logic loosing pressure

Oopps, cheers hammers didnt realise

thread moved chaps, jon i would also check out the main hex mate leave it cool for a few hours,check/discon the condensate, should be no water running though it

Everything points to a leak I know , I put some toilet paper up the prv pipe still dry, pressure goes up to 1.7/1.8 when running, I actually think that's a nats high , but it doesn't go any higher.
. I don't know the logic at all.
i don't want to shift furniture and carpets on Saturday afternoon but it's looking favourite now

yeh, had one a couple of years ago. the hex bust a gonad and ran through the condense.

pull of condense over bucket and pressurise to 2.5 bar and run boiler.

all will be revealled.

think they had a call back under warranty on those?

Redsaw/gas man, mega thanks for that, would rather do that than shift carpets. Cheers .

Shut flow and return . If it drops its the boiler if it stays it's the system. I'm sure the gauge is on boiler side of ISO.

Also when you run it with bucket on condensate . Run it in Dhw only. They do not condense in dhw mode.
It means wasting water I know but may prove helpful

Ideal tec told me at wakefield last week on course
Only condense in heat due to cooler return temp differential
In dwh the diverter is just looping through main hex and plate at max rate.
No condense as no temp differential

Also reinforced why its crucial to fill the trap when commissioning as if it was to run on hot water trap wouldnt fill up and poc would pass trap

I thought all condensers were the same.

If flow rate massive I.e plate will be dropping temp. I always have thought it performs better in DHW? I'm sure they do condense? - will measure on next commission.
The plate is co current so the return leaves as the cold enters.

Not enough to condense, also remember dhw is a few kw higher than heat.
And the main hex effectively becomes a very very small closed loop with the plate

Interesting that phill, would nt have known that, thanks all for your replys, going back sat afternoon , it would be great if it was in warranty for them , I think it's a logic plus, anybody know the length of warranty ?

If it hasnt been serviced grom the start - zilch

Otherwise 7yr

They had a 5 year warranty up til last year I believe

Seen 2 heat ex's fail on these, admittedly one was killed by a lazy engineer not getting rid of all the x800 in but it didn't take long about 2 months in total

that crossed my mind on post one,has x 800 been used, good though it is as a cleaner you cant get it all out,had it kill many a baxi 105 HE secondary ali hex when it was branded x 800 ferroquest

Very strange I was thinking that
