that crossed my mind on post one,has x 800 been used, good though it is as a cleaner you cant get it all out,had it kill many a baxi 105 HE secondary ali hex when it was branded x 800 ferroquest

Ill only use fernox f5 now for this reason, it cleans just as well and doesn't kill the boiler

Just an update on this one , for those whos interested , it was the heat ex, daughter and new sparky boyfriend , yes we had one in our house for xmas dinner yesterday ,( am i banned now ). strangely , he cleaned up after himself .
They were very lucky , about 3 weeks left out of the original 5 year warranty .
The installer had nt registered the boiler , tut tut , but ideal came out and replaced it .

Be one of the old "Hull" ones then. Thought that they had all manifested themselves by now. Obviously not.!

I had to change the HE on a 4 y/o compact before Christmas that was merrily pishing away into a condensate pump.
Can happen to any boiler really :(

Well done ideal for coming out and repairing the boiler if it hadn't been registered a lot of other manufacturer's would have said bugger off :santa3:
